Generic Job Title: Senior Network Administrator

Report to: Senior Manager Support/Installations/Infrastructure
Work Policy: Office based. (Monday to Friday)
Role Purpose:
The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall functioning and performance of the company’s systems and network infrastructure. This role involves leading the systems and network administrator, providing technical guidance, and ensuring the smooth operation of all systems and network components. The Senior Network Administrator collaborates closely with other departments to understand their technology requirements and align them with the company’s IT strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Matric
- Diploma / Certificate/ Degree in Information Technology or similar
- Microsoft / CompTIA certifications
- Microsoft Server Platform experience (2012/2016/2019)
- Desktop Support
- Knowledge Of Microsoft Technologies, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS
- A+/N+ and / or MCITP or similar
- Preferably experience of 5 years or more in similar environment (Technical support/Helpdesk)
- Experience in cloud technologies advantageous
- Previous experience in a technical desktop support role would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of desktop/server infrastructure
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices
- Ability to Diagnose and resolve performance, connectivity and related network problems including hardware, software.
- Knowledge of Network Infrastructures
System and Network Management
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of systems and network components, including servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and other networking devices.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks or issues, and proactively resolve them to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Management and implementation of local and cloud solutions including but not limited to Server, SaaS and Web which will include O365, Web Hosting, Domain and Azure, User Identity/Access and Smartsheet’s.
- Monitor and analyse security logs, conduct vulnerability assessments, and implement necessary controls to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with systems/network supervisor and vendors to resolve complex network related issues.
- Conduct regular assessments of the existing infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate solutions.
Security
- Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect the company’s systems and network from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions that enhance the company’s systems and network capabilities.
- Higher Tier level Support when needed and escalated by the systems and network administrator, and the management, delegation of support calls.
- Ensure Active directory groups and permissions are always updated.
- Ensure security Hardware/software is in place and up to date, Firewall tier two support and management.
- Lead the systems and network administrator, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews to ensure the team’s effectiveness and address any issues or concerns.
- Product and Services procurement, ensuring good relationships with suppliers and streamlining the process of procurement.
- Project management. Assign responsibilities and tasks based on skills and expertise.
Administration
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager and other Managers to develop the company’s IT infrastructure roadmap, including systems and network upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
- Develop and implement strategies for maintaining and improving the company’s systems and network infrastructure.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to the company’s systems and network architecture, configurations, standard operating procedures, and policies.
